Do you remember the scene in the movie, Black Panther, on "Challenge Day" when the people on the wall of water moved rhythmically to the beat of the drum? Do you recall how compelling the drum beat was? Jabari Exum, drummer and choreographer on the movie Black Panther, will perform using the acoustic drum and engage the audience with storytelling. It has been said, "he brought Wakanda to Wakanda." At Wakandacon Jabari will bring the spirit of the drum to us in Chicago - in a form he has developed which fuses West African Drumming and the Latin Tradition with Hip Hop Music.

Co-owner of Deep Productions Studios. She is a writer and casting director whose credits include Pieces of David, London Mitchell's Christmas, and Black Privilege.

Actress on various commercials, movies and TV shows, such as film The Gag Date, where she also serves as Producer, and Pieces of David where she plays the character Diane. She is also the spokesperson for Type One Diabetes.

Cynda Williams is an actress, known for One False Move (1992), and Mo’ Better Blues (1990). Singer of the hit song "Harlem Blues." She is also the author of the book Pink Pantie Confessions. She plays Detective Elaine in the film Pieces of David (2018).

All Weekend

The Children's Museum of Art and Social Justice presents Earth 2: a series of drawings created by artists, ages 7-15, of their imagined futuristic worlds. Students participated in discussions around the distant future- what would people wear? Where would they live? How would they get around? How might people relate with one another? The act of such intense imagining alters not just the possibilities of what can be far in the future, but also helps us see what we can alter in our current world as well. The sourced images that served as a starting point for the artists are from Nasa's images archive.

Best known for R. Kelly's hip-hopera, Trapped in the Closet, as the character Twan, from Chapter 7 and on. He also appeared in the 2006 film Waist Deep with Tyrese and is the main character in the 2014 short film Night Thrasher:RAVE, based on the Marvel comics superhero character Night Thrasher. He currently plays the role of Frank, in the Fox television series Rel as well as the character Black Magnum from the Amazon.com series The Girls & Rodney.

Erika Alexander is best known for her roles as Pam Tucker on The Cosby Show and Maxine Shaw on Living Single. She has won numerous awards for her work on Living Single, including two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. Alexander has starred in season 2 of the Amazon original drama, Bosch, as Constance Irving. In 2017 she played Detective Latoya in the critically acclaimed horror film Get Out.

Jesse J. Holland is an award-winning journalist and novelist and the author of the first novel featuring comics’ most popular black superhero, The Black Panther. In Black Panther: Who Is The Black Panther? Holland retells the classic origin of T’Challa, the original Black Panther, and updates it for the new century, giving new fans and longtime die-hard aficionados a good platform and some inside information for the new “Black Panther” movie from Marvel Studios debuting in 2018.

Founder of the film and TV Production company Deep Productions Studios, CORP. Works include Marvel Comics Night Thrasher:RAVE, Amazon’s The Girls & Rodney, and the animated film Malevolent, starring the voices of Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Deadpool) and William Shatner (Star Trek and more).

Actor Mark Willis is coming home to appear at Wakandacon! He is originally from Oak Park, IL and graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School. He was a part of Black Panther as a Jabari Warrior, and did stunts in the film. He has also appeared in a variety of shows such as Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Sirens, and Empire.
